The Mart collaborates with the MAG Museo Alto Garda in a major program dedicated to Giovanni Segantini, curating exhibitions under the aegis of the project In pinacoteca. Finestre sul contemporaneo.

 

 

 

SEGANTINI E ARCO


After the opening in 2012 of the permanent space dedicated to Giovanni Segantini in Arco, in 2014 the MAG launched a long-term project on the artist in the context of the close collaboration, begun in 2013, between the MAG and the Mart of Rovereto.
Led by Alessandra Tiddia, curator of the Mart, Segantini e Arco is a project that combines a museum exhibition at the Galleria Civica G. Segantini in Arco and a research program.

The first called for the renovation of the installation of the Galleria Civica, hosted in the 17th-century Palazzo Panni, which consists of a traditional exhibition space with paintings, graphic works and historical documents from the collections of the Mart, the MAG and the Autonomous Province of Trento, and an interactive space that positions Arco, birthplace of Giovanni Segantini, at the center of an international circuit connecting the museums and public institutions that possess works by the artist .

The research program comprises the publication of Segantiniana, which features heretofore unpublished studies and research, and several dedicated projects. Among these is Epistola, which focuses on the study and cataloguing of the autograph letters of Giovanni Segantini, launched in 2016 with the aim of bringing together various institutions and different disciplinary approaches.

Inaugurated in May 2017, the project website Segantini e Arco offers visitors access to resources for understanding Segantini and his era: the collections of the Galleria Civica G. Segantini, with paintings by the artist and his contemporaries, and the exhibitions.
At the same time, the project provides online access to the Segantini Map, a multi-touch interactive installation in the spaces of the Galleria that allows users to navigate among images of all Segantini’s works conserved in public museums worldwide. Similarly, Segantini Doc offers an unprecedented closeup view of the diaries and correspondence of the great painter, as well as publications, reproductions and historic photographs.
The site also makes quality resources available to scholars and art lovers, such as exhibition catalogues and research publications, including the first Italian edition of the seminal biography of Segantini, written by Franz Servaes in 1902.
The section Su Giovanni Segantini is dedicated to a selection of in-depth analyses, including the film by Roberta Bonazza, Francesco Fei and Federica Masin Segantini, ritorno alla natura, a version of which, realized ad hoc for MAG, can be viewed in the Galleria.
 

IN PINACOTECA. FINESTRE SUL CONTEMPORANEO


The project In Pinacoteca. Finestre sul contemporaneo, curated for the spaces of the Museo di Riva del Garda by Daniela Ferrari of the Mart, offers a cycle of in-depth analyses and updates on contemporary pictorial language, starting from the 1970s. From its role as a traditional historical-artistic institution, the Pinacoteca of the MAG thus opens its windows onto a selection of exhibition projects that document the most recent languages of painting.

The cycle of exhibitions began in 2013 with a solo show of Claudio Olivieri, Il colore disvelato, followed in 2014 by another one-man exhibition of Aldo Schmid, Astrazioni cromatiche. In 2015, a group show with works by Fontana, Burri, Manzoni, Dadamaino, Bonalumi e Scheggi entitled Oltre il confine della tela, while 2016 paid homage to the painter Luigi Senesi with the show La gradualità del colore. In 2017 the Pinacoteca del Museo di Riva del Garda presented the one-man exhibition by Italo Bressan, Anime.

From April 7th to June 10th 2018 the Claudio Verna exhibition, Colore come assoluto, concludes the focus on the protagonists of Italian analytic painting promoted within the project.
