Archivio di Nuova Scrittura
The Paolo Della Grazia Collection

Mart Rovereto
23 November 2019 / 01 March 2020
An in-depth look at the experimental magazines which emerged in the second half of the 20th century from one of the most important collections devoted to the middle ground between words and images.

Museion Bolzano and Mart Rovereto present a double exhibition on Archivio di Nuova Scrittura (ANS), the Paolo Della Grazia Collection focusing on word-image explorations, paying special attention to movements such as Concrete Poetry, Visual Poetry, and Fluxus.
In 1998 Della Grazia chose to place his collection, amongst the world’s most important, in Rovereto and Bolzano, to better ensure its access to scholars and the public. It is now featured in a double exhibition consisting of a different complementary section in each of the two museums.

Mart, which manages the Archive's impressive bibliographical and archival documentation, proposes a focus on experimental magazines with a small tribute to "Lotta poetica" and its exponents Sarenco, De Vree, Miccini, and Arias-Misson.
There are four sections summarising the archive’s special features: a magazine review dedicated to verbal-visuality; an assembling press selection; an insight into the magazine-performance-cinema-fashion interaction; a section exploring the traditional magazine’s encroachment into novel formats and supports such as records, tapes and videos.
