Paco Cao - PLRF Cabinet

Mart - Casa Depero
01 October 2012 / 01 January 2013
"I want to open the doors to hedonism and to embrace high and low culture, traditional museography and the world of entertainment"
Paco Cao

lanned by the Spanish artist Paco Cao, a resident of New York, specifically for the Mart and the Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero di Rovereto, the Psycho-linguistic-retro-futurist cabinet (PLRF) consists of a creative platform characterised by the use of a variety of disciplines and languages: exhibitions, events and meetings to be held from 13th October onwards in Rovereto and other localities in the Trentino region. The place selected for the PLRF cabinet is the Casa D’Arte Futurista Depero, the Mart’s second site in Rovereto, but the programme will also unfold in other places and contexts.

Through the use of a wide spectrum of languages and materials, Paco Cao aims to establish a bond between artist and spectator, creating a close link between work of art and public.

October 2012 Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero (Rovereto), Hotel Lido Palace (Riva del Garda).

The psychological cocktail service is offered both at the Mart, in the bar of Casa Depero, and in the bar of the Hotel Lido Palace at Riva del Garda. In order to enjoy the service, the customer must fill in a brief questionnaire with five questions. The answers will enable the artist to create a cocktail personalised on the basis of the psychological profile emerging from the form.

In 2014. a series of Psychological Cocktail Services will be featured at MoMA Classes, the artists-led events by the Museum of Modern Art in New York

October 2012 – Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero, Rovereto.

Paco Cao, guided by the pack of playing cards he himself created called Eternal Rest, offers an interpretation of them to explore the future of those requesting the service. Until the end of his residence, Paco Cao has offered this service not just in Rovereto and Riva del Garda, but also in New York, Miami and in the Mexican town of Puebla.

The Eternal Rest web project

From October 2012 to January 2013. Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero, Rovereto, Italy

The Eternal Rest exhibition presents four illustrations that go to make up the Eternal Rest pack of playing cards and, alongside them, the four original 18th and 19th-century works that served as the starting point for their development. The Eternal Rest playing cards, comprising 40 illustrations, is inspired by four contemporary music icons who have died in mysterious circumstances: Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. Their images have been merged with the historic portraits. Four of these portraits belong to the Mart’s collections and are presented in this exhibition alongside the corresponding contemporary illustrations.

The exhibition has been specifically planned for Casa Depero.
